A$15.00

Our Yayoi Kusama Glow in the Dary keyrings are as cute, as they are educational and practical.

Each keyring comes with a Yayoi Kusama token, a locket of charms based off some of her artworks and a split ring keyring.

Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese born artist, famous for her repetitive use of dots in her art, infinity rooms, pumpkins and bright red wig. She was born in 1929 and lives in Japan, where she resides in a mental health hospital, which she first checked herself into in 1977. In the locket on your keyring, you will find 3 references to her art:

  • Glow in the dark specs - Kusama is famous for creating, 'Infinity rooms' in which she uses a darkened room, mirrors and lights to produce an effect where the lights seem to go on forever. She first did this in 1965 with her "Infinity Mirror Room- Phalli's Field".

  • Pumpkins - Kusama drew pumpkins as a child and later in life reintroduced them into her artwork. She has said that they remind her of her childhood and represented stability to her. She has created many images and sculptures of them throughout the years. One such piece is the gorgeous sculpture, "Yellow Pumpkin, 1994".

  • Dots - Kusama has been hallucinating dots on things and other repetitive patterns since she was a child. She now uses this as inspiration with nearly all her work containing dots or another repetitive pattern. An example of this can be seen in her work, "Fire", 1988.

Please note: Our keyrings are handmade and therefore slight variations will occur.

Keyring size guide: locket 3cm diameter, Yayoi token approx. 2cm diameter, plus split key keyring 3cm diameter.
